SOON, SHE SAID - The First Casualty Of Love Is Innocence (2017) EN

The Frenchmen from SOON, SHE SAID describe themselves with two words: "beautiful noise". And not much more has to be added. No surprise that they were "born out of a passion around reverberated guitars and ethereal sounds". Dreampopish shoegaze from France, that's my tune!

So it is loud and it is beautiful. Be it the post-rock intro "Brain Fog" or the following tracks. The shoegaze by the French is very clear and it is closer to pop/indie rock than to MBV (or, as written yesterday, Shelling)'s oneiric fog. But it's not a problem, quite opposite. It's fitting to tap the melody with your leg or even dance around to this music but there's still a noticeable heavy and melancholic atmosphere of songs about love. Or about routine, as in "Every Day", one of the most interesting pieces on the album.

Francuzi z SOON, SHE SAID sami siebie określają dwoma słowami: "piękny hałas". I niewiele więcej trzeba dodawać. Bez zaskoczenia trzeba przyjąć, że "zrodzili się z zamiłowania do przesterowanych gitar i eterycznych dźwięków". Dreampopowy shoegaze z Francji, w to mi graj.

Jest więc i głośno i pięknie. Czy to w post-rockowym intro "Brain Fog" czy w kolejnych kawałkach. Shoegaze Francuzów jest bardzo wyraźny i bliżej mu do popu/indie rocka niż zamglonej oniryczności My Bloody Valentine (czy choćby niedawno opisywanego Shelling). Ale w niczym to nie przeszkadza, a wręcz przeciwnie. Da się do tej muzyki potupać nogą i popląsać a jednocześnie wyraźnie wyczuwalny jest ciężki, melancholijny klimat piosenek o miłości. Albo o rutynie w "Every Day", jednym z najlepszych na płycie.
