This youngster is absolutely one of the kind. The teenager from Mumbai creates tons of nostalgically beautiful sounds and puts them on more and more albums. Also with the help of some other interesting artists. This is Cash's new album - collision course .

His music could be described as subtle electronics mingled with some neoclassical beauty. Just as it's in the single and title track collision course the opens the album and imposes the course (sic!) on the rest of the tracks. The sounds generated by the artist and the delicate piano music together end up being oneiric in atmosphere that make it very easy to dissolve in. If I was to enlist the songs that best manage to convey this, I'd have to mention the whole album. And what's more, Cash received some help from other interesting young musicians who made the album even more colourful bringing with them for example some trip-hop-like beats.

Ten młodzian jest be wątpienia jedyny w swoim rodzaju. Nastoletni chłopak z Bombaju tworzy nostalgicznie piękne dźwięki i nagrywa je na kolejnych albumach, a do tego ma pomoc od innych świetnych artystów. Oto nowa płyta Casha - collision course .

Jego muzyka to subtelna elektronika połączona ze smakiem z neoklasycznym pięknem. Tak jak na singlowym i tytułowym collision course,który ponadto otwiera płytę nadając tym samym, nomen omen, kurs reszcie. Generowane przez artystę dźwięki i delikatne pianino tworzą razem oniryczną atmosferę, w której można się rozpłynąć bez problemu. Gdyby wymieniać kawałki, w których wyszło mu to najlepiej trzeba by wymienić całą płytę. A do tego Cash otrzymał pomoc od kilku innych ciekawych muzyków, którzy ubarwiają płytę przede wszystkim trip-hopowymi bitami.

Linda Guilala - Estado natural (2019) EN

Linda Guilala come from the Galician city of Vigo at the end of Spain, right at the Ocean. Beautiful place and beautiful music because the trio make some very moody dream pop. Estado natural is a single or a short EP which is the band's favourite publishing format.

The most important track here is the title track Estadio natural in two versions, "radio" and extended one. They are both utterly catchy making it impossible not to hum the chorus while listening to it. The impressiveness of the song is only greater thanks to the involving and smooth background made on synthesizer and airy, but not too airy, vocals by Eva Maria López Castro. And it's not different in Espacio de Tiempo, you can clearly see that the Galicians have no problems at all with writing catchy dream pop music. Waiting impatiently for more singles/EPs/whatever you call it.

Linda Guilala są z galicyjskiego Vigo na końcu Hiszpanii nad samym oceanem. Piękne miejsce i piękna muzyka bo trio gra bardzo klimatyczny dream pop. Estado natural to singiel albo krótka EP-ka, których w przyszłości ma być więcej, a które są formatem przez zespół umiłowanym.

Najważniejszym tutaj kawałkiem jest tytułowe Estadio natural w dwóch wersjach, "radiowej" i rozszerzonej. Są one do cna przebojowa i trudno podczas słuchania nie zacząć nucić refrenu. Do efektowności kawałka z pewnością dokłada się wciągający podkład grany na syntezatorze i eteryczny, ale nie do przesady, wokal Evy Marii López Castro. Zresztą nie inaczej jest w Espacio de Tiempo, widać, że pisanie przebojowego dream popu nie jest dla Galisyjczyków żadnym wyzwaniem. Czekam z niecierpliwością na kolejne singielki.

Life on Venus - Departure (2019) EN

The Russian shoegaze scene may not be too broad but it surely is impressive. It was proved in Warsaw's Chmury two weeks ago at a concert of Blankenberge and Life on Venus, concert that left everyone in awe. The former have just been on the blog, the former are planning their LP on this autumn but in the meantime showed a really good EP called Departure.

The album consists of four tracks infusing the audience with the dreamy-melancholic atmosphere of the highest quality. Very loud and very spacious sounds of guitars manage to mesmerize the listeners and put them into ethereal trance while the mixed male-female vocals only enriches the experience. What Lies Beneath adds to this the slow but clear and catchy melody. Silver Screen is even more airy and dreamy. And the last track of the album is chosen to be a cover of the great Fawns of Love, and it only means that the Russians have some brilliant examples to follow. Waiting for the whole album.

Rosyjska scena shoegaze'owa nie jest za duża, ale z pewnością efektowna. Pokazał to koncert w warszawskich Chmurach z udziałem Blankenberge i Life on Venus, który zachwycił publikę. Ci pierwsi dopiero co byli na blogu, ci drudzy szykują płytę na jesień, pokazali jednak tymczasem bardzo udaną EP-kę Departure.

Płytka to cztery kawałki zarażające słuchaczy melancholijno-senną atmosferą najwyższej próby. Bardzo głośne i przestrzennie brzmiące gitary skutecznie wprawiają publikę w eteryczny trans, a mieszany damsko-męski wokal tylko to doświadczenie pogłębia. What Lies Beneath dodaje do tego niespieszną ale wyraźną i wpadającą w ucho melodię. Jeszcze bardziej eterycznie i sennie jest w Silver Screen. Ostatnim kawałkiem jest cover znakomitych Fawns of Love, co tylko świadczy o tym, że Rosjanie mają dobre wzorce. Czekamy na całą płytę.

Am Fost La Munte Și Mi-a Plăcut - La Deal (2019) EN

Guitar post-rock in Romania is in good shape. Just recently I posted about the great album by Valerinne and now I had a pleasure to listen to the second album in the discography of Am Fost La Munte Și Mi-a Plăcut - La Deal. The band, what's worth stressing, will soon be playing at the biggest Euopean post-rock gathering at the Dunk! Festival in Belgium.

So it's very guitar and very lively. The Romanians main focus is playing instrumental and diverse melodies with ever changing pace. It's well audible in Setraiti Sanatate, Serviciusor with its almost delicate first part and the second - filled with aggressive energy. Also Suprafata Utila offers some super interesting composition choices and wonderful atmosphere, especially that it is the only one track here designed for giving some rest. The band soon come back to their style in the raw-guitar-oriented Am Adus Bautura, Fetelor and the album's finish in impressive Vedeti Ca Asta E Lunga. Not bad for a band that was created as a post-rock parody.

And of course a photo with the mountains. After all their long name translates into "I was in the mountains and I liked it".

Gitarowy post-rock w Rumunii ma się dobrze. Dopiero co pisałem o znakomitym albumie Valerinne, a teraz mam okazję posłuchać drugiego albumu Am Fost La Munte Și Mi-a Plăcut La Deal, zespołu który wkrótce zagra na europejskim post-rockowym spędzie - na festiwalu Dunk! w Belgii.

Jest więc bardzo gitarowo i bardzo żwawo. Rumuni stawiają na instrumentalne zróżnicowane melodie i zmieniające się tempo. Dobrze słychać to w Setraiti Sanatate, Serviciusor z jego nawet delikatną pierwszą częścią i pełną agresywnej energii kontynuacją. Także Suprafata Utila pokazuje kilka ciekawych zabiegów i znakomitą atmosferę, zwłaszcza że to jedyny taki utwór do odpoczynku i kontemplacji. Po chwili zespół wraca do swojego stylu w surowo-gitarowym Am Adus Bautura, Fetelor i efektownie zamykającym płytę Vedeti Ca Asta E Lunga. Nieźle jak na zespół, który powstał aby obśmiać post-rock.

No i oczywiście zdjęcie z górami. W końcu ich długa nazwa tłumaczy się na "Byłem w górach i było fajnie".

NERATERRÆ - The Substance of Perception (2019) PL

Niezwykła historia, dla Alessio Antoniego i jego projektu NERATERRÆ to płytowy debiut, a od jakości eterycznego ambientu i zaproszonych gości może się zakręcić w głowie. The Substance of Perception to póki co zdecydowanie najlepszy przedstawiciel gatunku w tym roku.

Właśnie projekty współpracujące z Antonim na płycie przykuwają od pierwszej chwili uwagę. Bo jest tutaj Aleksiej Tegin z uznanej Phurpy i Ugasanie i, dla mnie przede wszystkim, Duncan Ritchie czyli Flowers for Bodysnatchers. Nic więc dziwnego, ze mamy do czynienia z fantastyczną jakością muzyki.

Ta rozciąga się od intymnego soundscape'u z wplecionymi samplami (Shadows of Regret) przez mroczne i niepokojące przestrzenie (To Reveal the Unseen, Becoming the Nightmare) po delikatną neoklasykę (Echoing Stars). Właśnie ten ostatni kawałek nagrany z Flowers for Bodysnatchers, a także To Reveal... z mrocznym pomrukiwaniem Tegina so zdecydowanie najjaśniejszym (metaforycznie bo naprawdę to wcale nie) punktami tej bardzo równej i dobrej płyty.

NERATERRÆ - The Substance of Perception (2019) EN

Amazing thing, for Alessio Antoni and his project called NERATERRÆ it is a debut album but the quality of the airy ambient music and the collaborating guests take the breath away. The Substance of Perception is, as for now, the very best album of this genre this year.

The projects working together with Antoni on this album are the first thing that draws attention from the very beginning. Because there is Alexey Tegin from the very universally acclaimed Phurpa and Ugasanie and, for me the mot important one, Duncan Ritchie or Flowers for Bodysnatchers. And more. No wonder we deal with such a fantastic music quality here.

The said music goes from intimate soundscapes interlaced with samples (Shadows of Regret) to dark and unsettling spaces (To Reveal the Unseen, Becoming the Nightmare) and to subtle neoclassicism (Echoing Stars). This last track, recorded with Flowers for Bodysnatchers together with To Reveal... that includes Tegin's gloomy hooting are clearly the brightest (metaphorically because they are not bright at all) fragments of the well balanced and absolutely magnificent album.

Hańba! - 1939 (2019) EN

In Poland every fab of good music probably knows what Hańba! is about. So we are in the year 1939 and so the new EP by the Kraków-based yard orchestra is called accordingly. But this time there are some fresh things so the band still go forward.

So firstly, there's the album's theme - the sea. And although the rebellious anthems didn't suddenly change into sea shanties (the closer being Płyną okręty ("The Ships Are Sailing") with the phenomenally (unfortunately) all-time-valid lyrics by the poet Władysław Szlengel), the theme is tangible from time to time. Also in the beautiful cover art. Secondly, the band invite the folk trio Sutari who appear in two songs. It is probably Hańba!'s first collaborative work and it seems that although the projects are 80 years apart, there's a clear connection between them.

On the other hand, everything Hańba! got famous for is still audible. Obviously, adapting poetry into punk songs. Obviously, melody and energy of the angry music that was created before its history . Obviously the anti-war, anti-fascist and anti-establishment themes served often in surprising ways (Łowy ("Hunt")). And for the English-speakers, you can go through the band's Bandcamp page as there are translations of the poems/lyrics. Worth it.

Hańba! - 1939 (2019) PL

W Polsce już chyba każdy fan dobrej muzyki wie czym jest Hańba i z czym się ją je. A więc mamy rok 1939 i naturalnie tak nazywa się też nowa EP-ka krakowskiej orkiestry podwórkowej. Tym razem jednak mamy kilka zwrotów akcji, a więc zespół ciągle się rozwija.

Po pierwsze mamy nową tematykę - morze. I nawet jeśli zbuntowane hymny nie zmieniły się nagle w szanty (najbliżej temu Płyną okręty z fenomenalnie ponadczasowym (niestety) tekstem Władysława Szlengela) to motyw ten przejawia się raz po raz. Także w świetnym cover arcie Po drugie, muzycy zaprosili do pomocy artystki z folkowego trio Sutari udzielejące się w dwóch kawałkach. To pierwsza chyba kolaboracja zespołu i wygląda na to, że mimo różnicy 80 lat między oboma projektami jest chemia.

Z drugiej strony mamy wszystko to, z czego Hańba zasłynęła. Wiadomo, adaptacja poezji na punkowe songi. Wiadomo, melodyjność i energia wściekłej muzyki, która powstała wcześniej niż historia zakłada. Wiadomo, antywojenna, antyfaszystowska i antyestablishmentowa tematyka podana często z zaskakującą przewrotnością (Łowy). Dla nieanglojęzycznych - warto poklikać sobie bandcampowe konto, na którym kryją się tłumaczenia piosenek (a raczej poezji, na której są one zbudowane), warto.

Archivist - Triumvirate (2019) EN

From time to time Archivist shows to the world albums that can hardly be ignored. The band consisting of musicians from three countries, have just released an album called Triumvirate that in an impressive way ends the trilogy of albums filled with loud blackgaze/post-metal with a message.

The band's music is based on a simple but very interesting idea, it is supposed to be records of the archivist who lived through the end of the world that we know and "begins to record her memories of the world left in turmoil by humanity's shortsightedness and greed". It's worth to read the longer version of this story available on the band's Facebook page to have something to think about. So we have a band that is pro-environmental and antifascist so it's a good way to start listening to some music. 

And the music is described by the band themselves as "ethereal metal" and indeed - the guitar sounds are soothed by the sounds of synths and subtle electronics but stil remaining loud and poignant. Just like the screaming vocal from time to time supported by its airy equivalent (as in the great The Endurance).

Archivist - Triumvirate (2019) PL

Archivist co jakiś czas pokazuje płyty, obok których nie da się przejść obojętnie. Zespół składający się z muzyków  z trzech różnych krajów wydał właśnie album Triumvirate wieńczący w efektowny sposób trylogię wypełnioną głośnym blackgaze'em/post-metalem z przesłaniem.

Muzyka zespołu oparta jest na prostym a efektownym pomyśle, jest to zapis tytułowej archiwistki, która przeżyła apokalipsę i koniec cywilizacji jaką znamy i która "begins to record her memories of the world left in turmoil by humanity's shortsightedness and greed". Zresztą warto przeczytać dłuższą wersję opisu dostępną na facebookowym koncie zespołu, jest nad czym pomyśleć. Mamy więc do czynienia z zespołem pro-ekologicznym i antyfaszystowskim, co jest miłym przyczynkiem do muzyki.

A ta określana jest przez sam zespół jako "ethereal metal" i faktycznie - gitarowe dźwięki wygładzone sa brzmieniem syntezatora i subtelną elektroniką a mimo to pozostają głośne i przejmujące. Tak jak krzykliwy wokal wspomagany od czasu do czasu przez swój eteryczny odpowiednik (jak na przykład w świetnym The Endurance).

Lowly - Hifalutin (2019) EN

Their second long play is covered with toxic green and filled with fantastically intriguing pop music. Lowly of the Danish Aarhus can safely be very proud of Hifalutin.

The band's music balances between pop-ish electronic and extravagantly avant-garde pop, the deep voice of the vocalist Nanna Schannong makes the listener's spine thrill not once and not twice during the album. Especially when she shows what she's able to and she does so without need for any complex music accompaniment (as in the moody Go for a Walk). The album;'s title means something like "pretentious", but I can'r see it here, for me there's only ambitious pop music that is both interesting and engaging. This is Lowly's strength, even when a track seems to be taken by the sweet pop, it suddenly becomes experimental in the very best of the word's meaning. And the best examples of this are tracks like Stephen and Staples.

And finally there comes Children and everything's settled. This track ends with spectacular, electronic finish with clear post-rock's ecstasy vibes. And it gets my vote for the song of the last month.

Lowly - Hifalutin (2019) PL

Swoją drugą długogrającą płytę skąpali w toksycznej zieleni, a zawarli na niej fantastycznie frapujący pop. Lowly z duńskiego Aarhus mogą spokojnie być bardzo zadowoleni z albumu Hifalutin.

Muzyka zespołu balansuje pomiędzy popową elektroniką a ekstrawagancko alternatywnym popem, głęboki głos wokalistki Nanny Schannong nieraz i nie dwa sprawia, że słuchaczowi przechodzą ciarki po grzbiecie. Zwłaszcza, gdy wokalistka pokazuje co potrafi, a nie potrzebuje mieć do tego złożonego podkładu muzycznego (jak w klimatycznym Go for a Walk). Tytuł płyty oznacza tyle co "pretensjonalny", jednak ja widzę tutaj tylko ambitny pop, taki który jest zarówno interesujący jak i wciągający. To właśnie siła Lowly, nawet, gdy kawałek wydaje się być stracony dla słodkiego popu, nagle okazuje się być muzyką eksperymentalną, a najlepszym tego przykładami są Stephen czy Staples.

A w końcu nadchodzi Children i wszystko sprząta, kawałek ten kończy się spektakularnym, elektronicznym finałem na iście post-rockową, ekstatyczną modłę. I mam mój głos na najlepszy utwór ostatniego miesiąca.

Who Me? - Who Me? (2019) EN

There's only very little information about the Michigan-based project on the Web, the only certain thing is that it's driven by the artist called Dean and that he released a really interesting album this March.

The album signed by the characteristic triangle, shows some instrumental solo music on a good, high level. The artist composed his tracks in the way they dose the tension as they are supposed to and he based them mostly on raw guitar sounds. But still, they are able to create unique atmosphere that can be more epic (Drone), sometimes clearly rock (Scissors) or even almost ambient-like in the short Mountains. In each of those, Who Me? adds something extra to his music making it stand out among other solo post-rock projects.

O michigańskim projekcie trudno znaleźć jakiekolwiek informacje w Internecie, pewne jest jedynie, że stoi za nim artysta o imieniu Dean i że wydał jeszcze w marcu niezwykle ciekawy album.

Album sygnowany charakterystycznym trójkąt pokazuje solowe instrumentalne granie na dobrym poziomie. Artysta skomponował swoje kawałki w odpowiedni sposób stopniując napięcie i opierając je przede wszystkim na surowych gitarowych dźwiękach. Niemniej tworzą one fantastyczną atmosferę czasem bardziej epicką (Drone), czasem wyraźnie bardziej rockową (Scissors) aż po niemal ambientową w krótkim Mountains. W każdej z odsłon Who Me? dodaje od siebie coś ekstra, co wyróżnia go wśród solowych post-rockowych projektów.

Sven Laux and Daniela Orvin - The Writings (2019) PL

Dwoje berlińskich artystów współpracujących ze sobą i wydających wspólną płytę pod patronatem labelu Dronarivm, co może pójść nie tak? Znany już na tym blogu Laux i multi-instrumentalistka Daniela Orvin na The Writings, dają popis ekstremalnie melancholijnej neoklasyki.

Bardzo ciekawy jest tutaj koncept budowy płyty - połowę utworów stworzył albo Laux albo Orvin, więc technicznie byłby to split, natomiast druga połowa to już wspólne dzieło. Zresztą muzycy podkreślają, że podczas pracy nad albumem zostali przyjaciółmi dopełniającymi nawzajem swoje talenty, a The Writings stała się meta-płytą której tematem jest właśnie kolaboracja.

Od strony muzycznej jest to nadzwyczaj smutne połączenie neoklasyki z minimalistycznym, a czasem industrialnym w brzmieniu ambientem. Faktycznie też, najbardziej interesująco brzmią kawałki w wykonaniu obojga artystów, a zwłaszcza dwucześciowy Same Situation, Different Perspectives i depresyjny do ekstazy The Writings.

Sven Laux and Daniela Orvin - The Writings (2019) EN

Two Berlin-Based artists cooperating and releasing an album together under Dronarivm label, what could go wrong? Already known on this blog Laux and multi-instrumentalist Daniela Orvin on The Writings are showing some mad skills in the field of melancholic neoclassicism.

The concept of this album is really interesting, half of the tracks were created by either Laux or Orvin so it could be treated as a split album, on the other hand the second half is their joined effort. The artists themselves state that creating the album made them become friends who complete each other's talents. And The Writings became a meta-album the theme of which is the cooperation itself.

From the music point of view, it is extremely sad mixture of neoclassicism and minimalist and sometimes industrially sounding ambient. And indeed, the most interesting tracks seem to be the ones created by both of the artists, especially the two-part track Same Situation, Different Perspectives and ecstatically depressive The Writings.

RAKTA - FALHA COMUM (2019) PL

Kolejny w tym tygodniu zespół, którego Polacy poznali dzięki festiwalowi Soundrive, a który wydał ostatnio nową płytkę. Tym razem szalenie efektowni i szalenie szaleni Brazylijczycy z Rakty serwujący na FALHA COMUM eklektyczną mieszanką wszystkiego co interesujące.

Folkowo egzotyczna atmosfera muzyki zespołu połączona jest udanie z noise'ową estetyką, rytmicznymi, tribalowymi bębnami i rozproszonymi wokalami. Czasem wychodzi to mrocznie, czasem strasznie (wiedźmowata i płaczliwa końcówka 笑笑, co jak na ironię znaczy "uśmiech") , a czasem po prostu energetycznie (Fil do Mundo). Energii właśnie Brazylijczykom z pewnością nie brakuje, podobnie jak niebanalnych pomysłów na swoją muzykę, które trudno nawet opisać. Zwłaszcza, gdy do głosu dochodzą bębny, znak rozpoznawczy zespołu, tak jak w kończącej album Ruinie.

RAKTA - FALHA COMUM (2019) EN

Another band Poland got to know through Soundrive Festival that appears on the blog this week because of a new album. This time it's the madly impressive and madly mad Brasilians of Rakta showing the album called FALHA COMUM with its eclectic mixture of everything that's interesting.

Exotic folk atmosphere of the band's music is perfectly combined with the noise aesthetic, tribal drums and diffused vocals. Sometimes it turns out to be scary (the witch-like, crying ending of 笑笑,  ironically translating to "smile") and sometimes just energetic (Fil do Mundo). Energy is what the Brazilians definitely do not lack, same as those unique ideas for their music that can't even be described. Especially when it gets all about drums, the characteristic trait of the band, as in the album's final track Ruina.

Valerinne - Desire (2019) EN

They play together for a while now and on their new album they seem to deny the law of post-rock music saying that you can't make instrumental music that is monumental for 100% of time. The Romanians with their album Desire show that it is possible and it sounds brilliant.

The new release is long (well over an hour) but nevertheless, it doesn't get a slightly less epic and spectacular even for a second. There's no matter if it's raw and aggressive epicness in Star from Below, monumentally drums-infused one in Earth from Above, or soothed down, crushing the audience with homogeneous dough of engaging post-rock in Hegemon. Perhaps for some it will be impossible to digest but for me it's the other way round, I'd gladly have more. Especially that when seen live, there are also visual effects making the whole even more spectacular.

Valerinne - Desire (2019) PL

Grają ze sobą już od dość dawna, natomiast na nowej płycie zaprzeczają podstawowemu prawu post-rocka: że muzyka gitarowa nie może być epicka przez 100% czasu. Rumuni na swojej nowej płycie, Desire, pokazują, że potrafią zrobić coś całkiem na przekór temu.

Nowe wydawnictwo jest długie (grubo ponad godzinę), a mimo to ani na chwilę nie schodzi poniżej określonego poziomu epickości i wzniosłości. Nie ma dla nich znaczenia, czy będzie to epickość szorstka i agresywna jak w Star from Below, monumentalnie perkusyjna w Earth from Above, czy też bardziej wygładzona, zgniatająca słuchacza jednoraką masą zaangażowanego post-rocka w Hegemonie. Być może dla niektórych będzie to nieprzyswajalna dawka podniosłości, dla mnie natomiast jest całkiem inaczej, chciałbym jeszcze więcej, zwłaszcza ze na żywo dochodzą do tego animacje i to musi być niezwykłe combo.

Giriu Dvasios - Aidai (2019) EN

To celebrate the 10th birthday of the project, the Lithuanian producer Girių Davasios comes back to his undoubtedly best album, Ratu. This is where he did what made me fall in love in his music - combined the modern electronics with Lithuanian folk music. Just as he does on his new album, Aidai, that sounds like a direct continuation of Ratu.

It's clear from the very first sounds. Seemingly on a loop samples in the Lithuanian style of "sutartinės", folk songs that are meant to drive into trance, here do so with even higher efficiency. As before, the artist "borrowed" them from the folk band Trys Keturiose, but also thanks to cooperation with the already quite known Obeliją. A certain new thing is on the other hand "normal" vocal in Neskubek, which honestly doesn't sound that great comparing.

But what worked four years ago, works now as well. So the track such as Bitela, Tuto valijo, or Linelius, but first of all those recorded with Obelija. Everything could be both danced to or contemplated.

Giriu Dvasios - Aidai (2019) PL

Na dziesiątą rocznice założenia swojego projektu, litewski producent Girių Davasios powraca do swojej bez wątpienia najlepszej płyty, Ratu. To na niej właśnie dokonał tego, co mnie w nim zakochało - połączenia nowoczesnej elektroniki i litewskiego folku. Tak samo jest na nowej płytce, Aidai, która brzmi jak bezpośrednia kontynuacja Ratu.

Słychać to od pierwszych dźwięków. Brzmiące jak zapętlone utwory w litewskim stylu "sutartinės", które w założeniu mają wprawiać w trans, tutaj robią to ze spotęgowaną skutecznością. Tak jak poprzednio, artysta "pożyczył" je sobie od folkowego zespołu Trys Keturiose, ale także dzięki współpracy z bardziej znaną Obeliją. Pewną nowością za to jest "normalny" wokal w Neskubek, który nie brzmi tak dobrze.

Natomiast to, co działało cztery lata temu, działa i teraz. A więc kawałki takie jak Bitela, Tuto valijo, czy Linelius, ale zwłaszcza te z udziałem Obeliji. Wszystko jest i do tańca i do kontemplacji.

Brutus - Nest (2019) EN

In Poland everyone interested in alternative music knows what's Brutus all about, this is thanks to their great gig at Soundrive Festival. Hopefully it's the same in the whole Europe and all over the world because it's a band with their truly original and extremely engaging style. It  can be admired anew with their new album Nest.

The force behind the trio is undoubtedly Stefanie Mannaerts - the band's vocalist and... drummer. Her priceless energy on the stage and in the studio draws the audience's attention like the strongest electromagnet. Expressive in the way she both sings and plays the drums is what makes the Belgians unique.

As it could be guessed, the album is continuation of the clear, loud, aggressive but also melodic style of the band. The crazy Mannaerts is well fitted by Stijn Vanhoegaerden and Peter Mulders which creates the combination of post-rock atmosphere (Cemetery) with punk rock energy (for example in Techno). And there are also some especially tasteful pieces as for example the almost-ballad, the poignant War.

Brutus - Nest (2019) PL

W Polsce każdy zainteresowany wie z czym wiąże się muzyka belgijskiego Brutus, a to m.in. dzięki festiwalowi Soundrive. Mam nadzieję, że w Europie i na świecie również, bo to zespół z własnym, oryginalnym i nadzwyczaj wciągającym stylem, a podziwiać można to po raz kolejny na nowej płycie Nest.

Motorem napędowym trio jest bez wątpienia Stefanie Mannaerts - wokalistka i... perkusistka zespołu. To jej bezcenna energia na scenie i na płycie przykuwa uwagę słuchaczy jak największy elektromagnes. Ekspresywna zarówno jeśli chodzi o grę na perce jak i śpiewania jest tym, co wyróżnia Belgów. 

Tak jak można się było spodziewać, płyta to kontynuacja wyraźnego, głośnego, agresywnie brzmiącego, a jednocześnie pełnego melodii stylu zespołu. Do szalonej Mannaerts bez problemu dostosowują się Stijn Vanhoegaerden i Peter Mulders tworząc razem połączenie post-rockowej atmosfery (Cemetery) z punkrockową energią (chociażby w Techno). A do tego takie smaczki jak niemal balladowa, przejmujące War.

SEIMS - 3.1 (2019) EN

The new EP by SEIMS makes the second interesting album from the Australian label Art As Catharsis released lately. This time the label released their compatriots from Sydney, who created a direct continuation of their last EP from two years ago, called 3.1.

Its first part, 3 (as could be guessed), was devoted to the CMYK system colours. This year's one develops this idea with three tracks. It starts with a blast with fascinating hit of guitars, drums and trumpets in Absolute Black. The whole instrumental section gathered to make this EP is generally impressive, some of the sounds on this album are rarely heard anywhere else in post-rock music.

The way the Australians manage to fit them into the guitar post-rock makes me automatically a fanboy. And there has to be something in this Land Below as the last band that did this was also Australian Tangled Thought of Leaving.

SEIMS - 3.1 (2019) PL

Nowa EP-ka zespołu SEIMS to drugi bardzo interesujący krążek ze stajni australijskiej wytwórni Art As Catharsis w minionym czasie. Ty razem label wydał swoich ziomków z Sydney, którzy stworzyli bezpośrednią kontynuację EP-ki sprzed dwóch lata zatytułowaną 3.1.

Jej pierwsza część, 3 (jak można się domyśleć), poświęcona była kolorom systemu CMYK. Tegoroczna rozwija tę myśl trzema utworami. Zaczyna się z bardzo grubej rury fascynującym uderzeniem gitar, perkusji i instrumentów dętych w Absolute Black. W ogóle sekcja instrumentalna zgromadzenia do nagrywania EP-ki jest imponująca, niektóre dźwięki rzadko słyszy się w instrumentalnym post-rocku.  

To jak Australijczycy potrafią wkomponować je w gitarowy post-rock powoduje, ze jestem automatycznie ich fanem. I coś musi być w tych Antypodach, bo ostatni zespół, który zrobił tym na mnie wrażenie był również australijski Tangled Thought of Leaving.

Blankenberge - More (2019) EN

Almost two years ago already they conquered this blog with their single We and album Radiogaze. Now the Russian Blankenberge prove that there was no coincidence in it by showing even more atmospheric shoegaze on the album entitled accurately More.

What the Petersburg-based musicians are particularly good at, also performing live, is the loud and heavy shoegaze. This impression is even strengthen by hiding the delicate vocals of the petite Yana behind the walls of guitar sounds making their music My Bloody Valentine-esque, but at the same time losing nothing of its melody. Perhaps there's no single as good as We, but there's also no need for it as the album should be listened to as a coherent whole with introduction in Islands, and parts that are catchier (Look Around) or more ballad-like (More, Until the Sun Shines).

It's for adding that Blankenberge currently make a tour around Europe promoting the album and next week, 15th of May, will play in Warsaw's Chmury together with another great example of Russian shoegaze: Life on Venus.
