Wander - March (2019) EN

Another comeback to the blog after many months, this time it's the Californian Wander that shows the new album. The band that mesmerized the audience with their last EP Glass, didn't lose anything from their magic.

As the band themselves write, March deals with the theme of "childhood nostalgia and channels feelings of hope to overcome obstacles in life, emotional and physical". This not-so-easy material is embedded within long instrumental tracks that simply implode with emotions. It doesn't matter if it's the chaotic and very loud title March, ecstatically finished Catch, delicate Daydreamer, or in the finalizing the album Eveleth. Wander is a show of sad, but most importantly powerful music and they confirm it not for the first time.

Kolejny powrót po wielu miesiącach na blog, tym razem to kalifornijskie Wander pokazuje nową płytę. Zespół, który zaczarował post-rockową publiczność swoją poprzednią EP-ką Glass, nie stracił nic z formy.

Jak pisze sam zespół, March zajmuje się tematem "nostalgii za dzieciństwem i czerpie z poczucia nadziei, że można dać sobie rade z życiowych przeciwności, zarówno tymi emocjonalnymi jak i fizycznymi". Ten niełatwy materiał zamknięty jest w długich instrumentalnych kawałkach wprost kipiących od emocji. Czy to w chaotycznym i bardzo hałaśliwym tytułowym March, ekstatycznie zakończonym Catch, łagodny Daydreamer, czy w końcu w zamykającym całość Eveleth. Wander to pokaz smutnego, ale przede wszystkim potężnego instrumentalnego grania i potwierdzają to nie po raz pierwszy.

Wander - Glass (2017) EN

If there's anybody thinking that post-rock is just miserably bleak songs about fading into nothingness, this is the time to change this opinion. I haven't had an occasion to please my ears with such an energetic guitar music as this offered by the California Wander for a long time. The San Leandro based quartet knows how to kick ass and force to dance.

There's not one moment of rest on this album, if it's not loud and energetic for a while, it definitely is a bit more quiet and danceable. The album functions as a couple of coffees spiced with taurine. To be honest, the biggest impression leaves the track entitled just like the album - "Glass" in which the energy level goes so high and reaches another level and when it seems that there's no way up to go, the drums turn to almost black metal-like frequencies.

"Magenta" on the other hand brings more epic drums and catchy melody, "Luna" an intense finish, and "Breaker" a long and involving ending to the album. Everything here forces to striking sparks of energy not to get lost behind the raging musicians.

Jeśli ktoś myśli, że post-rock to tylko żałośnie smętne piosenki o przemijaniu to czas na rehabilitację. Dawno nie miałem okazji sycić uszu tak energetycznym gitarowym graniem jak to proponowane przez kalifornijski Wander. Kwartet z San Leandro naprawdę wie jak kopnąć dupę i zmusić do tańczenia.

Na płycie nie ma ani jednego przestoju, jeśli nie jest akurat głośno i energetycznie to robi się ciszej i tanecznie, płyta oddziałuje z mocą kilku kubków kawy doprawionych tauryną. Jednak jeśli mam być szczery to największe wrażenie robi tytułowy "Glass", w którym energia osiąga kolejny poziom, a gdy wydaje się, że bardziej już nie można to perkusja włącza niemal black metalowe częstotliwości pałowania bębnów.

"Magenta" z kolei oferuje bardziej epickie bębny i wpadającą w ucho melodię, "Luna" intensywny finał, a album wieńczy rozległy "Breaker". Wszystko na tej płycie zmusza do krzesania z siebie energii byle tylko nie zostać w tyle za szalejącymi muzykami.

"Glass" można mieć za płać ile chcesz.
