Leon Ampersand - Milquetoast Bleeder

A Jeremy Mendicino and Will Peters duo from Vermont makes some moody and cosy dream pop that reminds me of Fireflies so much but gets more pop-like energetic and melodic pretty fast and finishes with some pretty noisy tunes. The two songs cost 1 USD.

That's Your Angel - Jokerman

Singer-songwriter from Pennsylvania, making some blues-slowcore, extremely atmospheric stuff with clear Nick Cave vibes in this cover of Bob Dylan's song. The debut EP is bound for August, worth waiting for. The single costs 1 USD.

Pale Blue Eyes - Motionless / Chelsea

They call their music cream-pop and it makes so much sense. The English band present their debuting material and it's already so good, catchy melodies in hazy environment with subtle electronic kicks in Motionless and extremely moody reverbs in Chelsea. Two tracks cost 2 GBP.

Indie rock with heavily atmospheric and noisy vibes. The way the California-based bands executes their catchy compositions is pretty impressive. The two songs cost whatever you want to pay.

Leaving Time - Leaving Time (2021)

That's some under-the-radar stuff. Leaving Time, a band from Florida, have almost no place on-line to be found in but it doesn't stop them from creating some quality music. The one we can check out is the self-titled debut EP from the beginning of the year.

It consists of five tracks held in the atmosphere of dirty, lo-fi shoegaze slash noise pop. The guitars here are rough and plenty while the vocals dispersed and soothing. This is something for the fans of Crocodiles and Ceremony - a lot of rock'n'roll energy in the form of very noisy and very obscure spawn of the 90s. shoegaze. The whole thing sounds like a tribute to all the noisy legends, staying true to the genre's dogmas and lets the true fans enjoy the beautiful noise once again, this time thanks to the debutantes from States.

Cathedral Bells - Ether (2021)

When I first heard their single Dark Aura, I knew it's something big. And indeed, Ether makes a really good synthgazey dream pop concoction. And in my humble opinion, this album is actually a lot better than the debut and I couldn't not post about it here.

Their sound is based on very post-punk/synthpop synthesizers and generally flat sound that channel the stifling atmosphere of clubs in the 80s. as I imagine it. No wonder they call themselves as "born from the depths of obscure analog gems". On the other hand, the vocals are extremely airy with a strong taste for melodic singing. This makes the whole thing actually very lively and pretty much forcing the audience to dance with ease. And there's Dark Aura, a fantastic song that marries everything that's important in this music: extremely airy chorus, melodies, hazy atmosphere and post-punkish composition. That's some strong candidate for the dreamy hit of the year.

Spirit and the Cosmic Heart - Memories (2019) EN

Those guys had been here already. Hailing from Florida, Spirit and the Cosmic Heart one and half year ago made me fall in love with their debut EP and now they continue doing so with another one called Memories.

Their somewhat psychedelic dream pop can easily be loved. There's some of the ethereal longing after the 90s and bands such as Lush or even Ride. On the other hand, the rich, sometimes sunny, sometimes darker, music has roots in the American psychedelia. Especially in tracks like Endlessly in which there's time and space for those kinds of trips.

Undoubtedly, the band are able to write some very catchy songs and the best one here in this is Lasso. Perhaps it's the time for a long-playing album?

Spirit and the Cosmic Heart - DREAMS (2018) EN

Spirit and the Cosmic Heart, a bit like the name suggests, make music that is "weird, airy and catchy", so in short, just like shoegazing dream pop should be. They are from Florida and have just released a debut album entitled, of course, DREAMS

Another sentence they add: "bright, ethereal female vocal paired with dark, baritone male lead" - this combination in dream pop music usually sounds good and this is no exception. Sometimes they use the dialogical structure, like the one nailed recently by Still Corners, while sometimes the both vocals merge into one, striking with its dreaminess and intriguing.

Plus, the music that besides being airy, amazes with its innocent and unpretentious approach to the pop part of dream pop - in this slightly twee gaze style, they show the way to be catchy in this way that belongs to a lazy, Sunday afternoon. It's about the dancing guitar sounds and the synths that bind the whole thing together. And even when the music gets faster in Gold, or absolutely nostalgic in In Heaven, the charm is not gone.

Colliding Galaxies - Snowy Days (2018) EN

Snowy days have passed by a long time ago but there is a way to bring them back in front of our eyes. Colliding Galaxies, a project from, surprisingly enough, Florida knows exactly how to achieve this.

"Snowy Days" is forty minutes of calm blizzard, delicate breaking through banks of snow. Atmospheric drones build up spacious soundscapes full of whiteness. Depending how to look at it, they bring sadness or awe. And finally, they invite us to sleep under the blanket made of clouds. The best way.
