Shelling - Waiting For Mint Shower!! (2017) EN

The Asian shoegaze contains something really unique. It tends to combine deafening noise with superb sweetness. And Shelling is not any different from that, their "Waiting For The Mint Shower!!" supports this theory of mine. The band's engine is the vocal by Aya, known also as fraqsea, which is everything you conotate with an airy sweetness.

Electronically guitar power is mixed with the airiness in every second of the album. It's difficult to point to one track and say it's the best one. It could maybe be "Seaside Bed" that sounds extremely melodic and reminds me of my favourite Japanese guys from Advantage Lucy. Or maybe a calm ballad  "Shining Pool" or a kissy "Sea Dream"?

One can hardly be surprised that the main theme of the album revolves around ocean. This is the music you hear when you dive and your ears stop working and it's your inside that plays.

W azjatyckim shoegazie jest zawsze coś wyjątkowego. Zazwyczaj łączy się w nim ogłuszający hałas i niezwykła słodycz. Nie inaczej jest w przypadku Shelling, których "Waiting For Mint Shower!!" potwierdza tę nieprzypadkową skądinąd teorię. Zespół napędzany jest wokalem Ayi, znanej też jako fraqsea, który jest wszystkim, co kojarzy się z eteryczną słodyczą.

Elektroniczno-gitarowa moc łączy się z eterycznością w każdej sekundzie albumu i trudno wyróżnić jeden wyjątkowy kawałek. Może byłby to "Seaside Bed" brzmiący niezwykle melodyjnie i przypomina mi moich ulubionych Japończyków z Advantage Lucy. A może spokojna ballada "Shining Pool" lub całuśne "Sea Dream"?

Trudno być zaskoczonym, że cały album oscyluje wokół oceanu. Tak brzmi muzyka, którą słyszy się nurkując, gdy uszy przestają słyszeć, a gra wnętrze.
