"We are from Gdańsk and we make noise" they state at the very introduction. There's no doubt about any of this, Free Games For May consist of Pascal Buła, Michał Macidłowski and Hanna Went together with quite a lot of loudness. The debut called "No Snow" has just been released.
Shoegazing indie rock seems to be the best label for the Gdańsk-based artists. Went's vocal balances between dream pop airiness and clear rock. A good example here would be "Ode to Hope", or a song about how awful snowless winters are. The song sounds like an atmospheric indie rock ballad until it melts down in the airy haze at the end.
Another interesting piece is "Solitaire" in which the band use a bit neurotic vocal by Buła and a lot of psychedelic pop, "The Vow" with its super-compelling but also unsettling chorus and particularly experimental here "Wild Space". And, truth be told, the more into experiments, the better the band sound. Good beginnings.
"No Snow" are for free, just like the games for May. But you can pay if you want to.
