Oxy - Oxy EP (2017) EN

"Nobody left the 80." claim Oxy and consistently make it clear to everybody with their music. The Brasil-based band is inspired among others by DIIV and Beach House but adds a lot of their own, not only graphic, psychedelia.

Instead of utilizing the shoegaze wall of guitars, Oxy play dense, psychedelic noise on the surface of which sometimes appear odd riffs sounding like My Bloody Valentine being speed up fairly well. And it's a canvas for Sary Cândido's vocal that is pleasantly clear when needed and lost in noise in other instances. Compositions are lively and catchy but they also emanate difficult to define melancholy, especially in "Mad".

The band claims that they are "trying to be shoegazer", I beg to differ, they are better than just "trying". I hope for more than only three tracks.
