I have just written about the unrepeatable shoegaze of the 90s and there's already an example of what the inspiration of the decade can create. Annie Hall is a music collective of musicians from lesser known Jakarta underground bands, who fascinated by "fuzzy, heavy and dreamy guitar riff with soften low-end vocal" created their own reply to the shoegaze from two decades before.
Their music is characterized by slow pace that is not being disturbed by really loud guitars. And it is only supported by extremely atmospheric voice of Bintoro Joyo, which sounds as if he wanted to deny the proposition that only female voices make good, airy, dreampop vocals. And he's great at it. All sorts of inspirations by the classics are visible in Annie Hall's music - as for example in "Hollow" in which the characteristic "trumpets" at the track's end remind of the great MBV from "Loveless".
"Saudade"is published by Héma Records, it costs 5 USD.
