Shoegaze with the symbol of an octopus! The cover is extremely fitting, what animal has more "lazy" legs than the cephalopoda? But even forgetting about the name and the cover, Lazy Legs is still surprising because they play something that is not that common - a mixture of true American dreampop or delicate shoegaze and authentic post-rock. In some tracks ("Chain of Pink") they sound like MBV in their best times and in some other ("Flicker") like spiritual Mogwai. I dig it.
Especially that the comparisons are well earned. The wall of guitar noise in the second song sounds like magic, and the way it's put together with airy backing vocals made me shiver. And the whole thing crushes into piercing clamour in "Flicker". The trio from Chicago doesn't hide their inspirations and enlists the whole pantheon with MBV, Sonic Youth and Wirr on their Facebook. They have to be really loud playing live.
"Chain of Pink" is available for "pay-what-you-want". But it's not to go unnoticed that all the income will be used to help non-profit organizations - Planned Parenthood, Sierra Club and American Civil Liberties Union.
